High HP Four Stroke VF225
The VF225 VMAX SHO (Super High Output) has redefined the high-performance outboard market with its ground breaking blend of low weight, incredible power and high-end speed. Purpose-built for the competitive bass fishing market, this 4.6 litre, V6, 24-valve outboard, is also the engine of choice for high-speed adrenalin junkies, skiers and shallow-hull performance enthusiasts. With its great fuel economy, whisper quiet operation and exceptional reliability, this extraordinary engine has made the old two-stroke vs four-stroke argument completely redundant. The VF225 comes with a high-output alternator to run all the necessary electronic accessories and includes Yamaha’s variable trolling control, which allows you to adjust the engine speed up or down in 50 RPM increments to achieve perfect lure presentation speeds. If speed and high-end performance is your thing, then look no further than the VF225.
VMAX SHO’s have been engineered specifically to deliver unrivalled hole-shot and acceleration, with an equally impressive top-end speed. Our new V6 VMAX SHO ® outboards not only look great with their aggressive styling upgrades, redesigned cowling and eye-catching raised graphics, these high-performance engines also incorporate some great new features including Yamaha’s TotalTilt™ trim system, as seen on our new V6 Offshore range. We have also increased the alternator output by a massive 40%, now producing 70 gross charging amps, enough to power an extensive range of electronic devices.

Super High Output Design
The new V6 VMAX SHO ® outboards feature bold and aggressive styling upgrades, a redesigned cowling and eye-catching raised graphics, ensuring they look as impressive as they perform.

Battery Isolator (output)
The VMAX SHO V6 has the option of connecting an optional isolator lead to better charge house or trolling batteries.

VMAX TotalTiltâ„¢
Yamaha’s exclusive TotalTilt™ function allows for the complete tilt up or down of the outboard from any position with a simple double push of the Up or Down trim/tilt buttons. The new bracket allows the engine to tilt higher out of the water, helping to lessen the potential for corrosion, while the built-in tilt limiter automatically stops the engine tilt at a predetermined set point.

High Output Alternator
The alternator output for the new VMAX SHO V6 has been increased by 40% on previous models, now producing 70 charging amps. This is handy for today's boaters wishing to use an extensive range of electronic devices.

4,200cc V6 Engine
Featuring plasma-fused, sleeveless cylinders, double overhead camshafts (DOHC) and four valves per cylinder, these 4.2 Litre advanced V6 engines are extremely light, powerful and fuel efficient.

Compact In-Bank Exhaust System
Yamaha's ongoing weight-saving program has delivered an innovative in-bank exhaust system, with the manifold integrated into the cylinder head. Along with other weight-saving technologies and materials, helps to create a supremely compact and light engine design.

Direct Ignition
The direct ignition system, with plug cap and ignition coil, provides higher reliability and increased performance.

Electronic Throttle Valve
The electronic throttle valve provides sure and more precise valve opening and closing according to each engine temperature and atmospheric condition. This system works in tune with the fuel injection and ignition systems, to deliver incredible response and exceptional fuel economy.

Plasma Fused Cylinders
The plasma fusion process creates a cylinder wall surface that is 60% harder than steel, removing the need for conventional steel cylinder sleeves. The removal of these sleeves significantly reduces weight while increasing capacity in the engine, resulting in an improved power-to-weight performance.

Variable Camshaft Timing
The Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) advances and retards the camshaft timing according to the engine RPMs. This in combination with the electronically controlled single throttle valve system and long intake manifold boosts low and mid-range torque for optimum acceleration.
